Car Cleaning Tools And Techniques To Get The Professional Cleaning Look

A traffic light on a city street

A clean car is a happy car and good quality chamois leather should be the only real tool that a cars body needs. However, to get it to that point of only needing the occasional wipe can sometimes be an arduous task.

Use Right Car Cleaning Tools And Techniques

Car cleaning is not so much an art form, but more a kind of therapy that can leave the person cleaning the car feeling quite rewarded, especially if it is done right.

Starting Off

The first plan of action for a clean car should be to have at hand a bucket of hot soapy water and a clean sponge. It is important the sponge is free from any debris so as not to scratch any paintwork when cleaning the car.

Also to hand we should have a means of rinsing the soap suds off and another bucket of clean water that is fairly hot. Not hot enough to burn, but certainly hotter than warm.

Phase One Of Car Cleaning

Start by cleaning the car roof, clean with the suds and sponge, but just the roof. Once the roof is cleaned it is time to rinse the suds off with fresh water. Now take the chamois leather out of the hot water rinse off the excess water then clean the roof until it is dry. This will produce an effect that makes the roof look as though it has just been polished, but there is more to come yet that will make it look even cleaner.

Get Inside

Next for a completely clean car the same process needs repeating for the bonnet followed by the boot or which, ever way around. Always try and complete highest parts first as this will eradicate water and soap runs on parts already covered. Be sure to include the windows in this process.

It is important to point out here that the suds should be a genuine car cleaning product and not the same liquid that is used to wash the dishes. Also important is to do just one section at a time. This way it will eradicate any residual smears that would be left if the whole car was washed all in one go.

Wheels And Tyres

Once every panel on the car has been cleaned (including windows) in this way it should look very bright and shiny. While waiting for excess water to dry in the little water pockets it is time to focus on the wheels and tyres.

A sponge and soapy wheel wash should be used on the car wheels, again it should be a genuine car wheel cleaning product and again the water should be nice and hot. Once a wheel is washed it should be thoroughly rinsed, with each wheel being completely cleaned one at a time.

It is important to spend a bit of time on the wheels as in some cases they can be particularly grubby and it is worth trying to get them as clean as possible.

Drying It Off

With the cars wheels completed the next process is to buff over the entire car with an anti static cloth. This will take off all the fingerprints and smears that the chamois leather leaves behind and cannot lift. Now the car will not only look bright, clean, and shiny, but it will be silky smooth as well.

Special Care For Tyres

Finally it is the turn of the tyres. These need an old jam jar or similar, an unused paint brush and some back to black liquid. This needs to be painted onto the tyres as thinly as possible so as not to cause runs. This will need to dry and soak in for at least a couple of hours before driving the car, otherwise it could leave spray marks up the sides.

And, You Are Done!

With all the car cleaning done the car will look good enough to go in a showroom, but best of all the car should only need to be cleaned with some hot water and a chamois for the next few cleans.

A top tip. Now with a showroom condition clean car it would make the car feel so much better if it is hovered at the same time.

A clean car is a happy car with a content and pleased owner.
